GOMACO’s Four-Track Next Generation Commander III Introduced at World of Concrete 2015

Next Generation Commander IIIIda Grove, Iowa – GOMACO’s four-track Next Generation Commander III made its trade show debut at World of Concrete 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The paver’s new design and features, along with G+ ConnectTM and 3D guidance, gathered a lot of contractor interest on the show floor. The Next Generation Commander III’s new design is all about vision, safety, and performance, and is driven by the new GOMACO G+® control system and the Tier 4 engines.

Operators in the field are already commenting on the new design features made to increase their comfort. They like the new isolated operator’s platform eliminating vibration, and the paver’s quiet operation while they’re working on the platform and around the machine. The paver features a new optimized cooling package with the G+ control system controlling the hydraulic fan to adapt cooling needs to job-site conditions for a quiet and efficient operation. The Next Generation Commander III has improved fuel efficiency with a power-optimized engine and load-sensed hydraulic circuits. Excellent fuel efficiency combined with an increased fuel capacity allows an uninterrupted day of paving on the project.

The Next Generation Commander III features a redesigned frame and operator’s platform with a new pivoting operator’s control console. The frame has been rebuilt to accommodate Tier 4 engines and their cooling packages. The placement of the engine in the framework provides increased operator visibility and the redesigned engine shroud provides easy access to service and fill points. The pivoting operator’s console allows the operator to have hands-on control and ultimate visibility for various applications, including pavements up to 20 feet (6.1 m) wide and sidemounted barrier wall.

Every leg on the Next Generation Commander III has the new GBox to accommodate improved steering and grade with G+ controls. It’s part of GOMACO’s electronic and hydraulic initiative. The GBox features a new location for the slave controller and proportional valves, reduces hose and wiring needs, eases serviceability and troubleshooting, and provides easy access with a horizontal swing door at ground level.

G+ control with G+ Connect seamlessly integrates with GOMACO’s complete line of accessories, including 3D guidance, the GSI® (GOMACO Smoothness Indicator) and an on-board camera for visibility. The four-track Next Generation Commander III was shown at World of Concrete 2015 with a paver-mounted GSI attachment. The GSI uses three different sensors, two sonic and one slope, to read the smoothness data on the surface of the new slab. The immediate data can be used to make on-the-go adjustments, if necessary, to the paver to assure maximum smoothness results. The paver also had a new optional on-board camera to feed full color video to the G+ control screen and allow the operator to survey designated areas of the slipforming process. Other accessories on the Next Generation Commander III could include a power transition adjustor (PTA), Auto-Float® attachment, center and side mounted bar inserters and 3D and 2D guidance systems. GOMACO’s G+ easily connects with equipment from the three major suppliers of 3D guidance systems, including Topcon, Leica Geosystems and Trimble. G+ controls will also accommodate telematics for remote engine and machine monitoring.
