GOMACO Unveils Several Exciting New Concrete Paving Innovations at World of Concrete 2013

Las Vegas, Nevada – Visitors to the GOMACO booth at World of Concrete 2013 were treated to a first-time look at new GOMACO technology, including a new zero-clearance sidewalk paver, new four-track texture/cure machine, new and innovative controls software, and much more. The innovations continue to prove why GOMACO is the worldwide leader in concrete paving technology.

GOMACO brought their GHP-2800 four-track paver to display at the show. It featured the GOMACO 5400 series mold and bar inserter for ultimate rideability and bar placement accuracy. The 5400 series mold has a 54 inch (1372 mm) finishing length, a "box" design, and durable 0.5 inch (13 mm) paving skin for structural integrity. It features a spreader plow, independent of the mold, or an optional auger to spread the concrete across the paving width. The strike-off is mounted to the paver's mainframe, independent of the mold, and has a modular design with a wedge-lock system for easy width changes. The 5400 series bar inserter offers ease of use with rear loading from the paver's work bridge, while the bar is inserted in front of the mold. It has a reliable and highly efficient bar loading chain system with bars traveling in a flat, straight path. The bar insertion process and timing is all controlled by the G+® system.

The GHP-2800 is the first GOMACO paver to feature G+ ConnectTM, a new, proprietary CAN-based network on GOMACO products that allows fast, two-way communication between all accessories and the exclusive G+ controller. GOMACO's proprietary G+ Connect is a closed-loop control system for both the electronics and hydraulics on GOMACO pavers. The closed-loop system between the paver's valves and various sensors means unparalleled accuracy. The sensored feedback ensures tighter, faster, and more accurate machine corrections. G+ Connect utilizes a CAN (controller area network) network allowing all of the components of the system to easily communicate with each other for precision setup and paving.

GOMACO's new texture/cure machine, the T/C-5600, was also unveiled at World of Concrete. The T/C-5600 features four crawler tracks, the exclusive G+ control system, and widths up to 56 feet (17 m). The all new four-track design with 90 degree turn capability allows easy width changes and easy transport, while G+ provides electronic-over-hydraulic steering and grade control for ultimate accuracy. The magic behind the easy width changes is the T/C-5600's new walking end car with cure tank. Frame sections can be added or removed by turning the machine's tracks 90 degrees and walking the end car with attached cure tank to the required width. Frame inserts are available in four foot (1.2 m), eight foot (2.4 m), and 12 foot (3.7 m) lengths. The new T/C-5600 offers unparalleled tining depth accuracy with the all new GOMACO Tracer Texture Control. A sonic sensor traces the slab with the transverse travel of the tining broom. The tining depth is controlled by hydraulic height adjustment on the broom carriage. The two working together provide accurate tining depth, eliminate rail adjustments, and also eliminate the need for a power transition adjustor (PTA). Tracer Texture Control also works with transition adjustments required for longitudinal tining.

GOMACO introduced the GT-3200 sidewalk paver designed specifically for zero-clearance sidewalk rehabilitation projects. The GOMACO GT-3200, with G+ controls, can be equipped with a front-mounted adjustable aggregate base mold to spread the base aggregate for the sidewalk. During the first pass, rock is placed on grade and an auger spreads the material, while three pan vibrators mounted to the mold start the compaction process. During the second paving pass, the sidewalk is slipformed with a unique, minimum-clearance trailing mold. The GT-3200 sidewalk paver has a 20 inch (508 mm) wide, 14 foot (4.3 m) long folding conveyor. The conveyor allows ready-mix trucks to discharge from the street instead of driving over existing curb to reach the paver. The hydraulic pivoting conveyor has also been designed to rotate 180 degrees to allow for easy loading of concrete into the hopper from either side of the machine and to avoid obstacles associated with zero-clearance paving. The GOMACO-proven sidewalk mold features hydraulic adjustable sideplates to form the GOMACO edge, while a trailing stainless pan provides the superior finish. The sidewalk mold can also be equipped with a bar inserter for placing transverse bars into the slab, if required by project specifications. The GT-3200 sidewalk paver also features all-track steering, which saves time getting on and off stringline, excellent job-site mobility, and ease in loading and unloading for transport.

Other GOMACO concrete slipform pavers were on display, including the Commander III four-track with the hydraulically-adjustable V2 mold. The roller frame on the Commander III provides easy width changes and a fluid action for the V2 mold to make on-the-go width changes for tapered slabs up to 20 feet (6.1 m) wide. A GOMACO two-track GP-2400 was also in the show booth. The GP-2400 is capable of paving widths up to 16.5 feet (5 m) with its standard telescoping frame, and up to 24 feet (7.5 m) with frame inserts.

GOMACO's complete line of curb and gutter machines was represented by the GT-3600 at World of Concrete 2013. The GT-3600 is one of the most versatile, dependable, and high-production curb and gutter machines with job-proven results throughout the world. It is capable of slipforming curb and gutter, tight radii, cul-de-sacs, safety barrier, bridge parapet, sidewalks, recreational paths, and flat slabs up to 10 feet (3 m) wide.

All of the machines on display featured the proprietary and exclusive GOMACO G+ control system. All of the software for the G+ control system has been designed in-house by GOMACO's own control specialists who understand concrete paving. It has been programmed to operate in most of the world's major languages to accommodate the customer's choices. The operator can easily toggle between English and another language on the G+ screen while paving or troubleshooting. A "run" screen on the control panel illustrates the various aspects of the paver. It includes leg positioning, paving speed and percentage of drive, steering, travel information, grade information, deviation meters, and more. Newly designed icons and color graphics make it easy to understand and easy to identify the targeted functions. G+ now features a detailed fault history with a time stamp date and information to track when each fault occurred. The G+ control system's interface hardware includes simple but durable dials and push buttons for machine control. It features a flat-panel 6.5 inch (165 mm) anti-glare display screen with sensor-controlled backlight levels for superior visibility in all operating conditions. Its rugged, shock resistant construction protects it against dust, moisture and rain.
