GOMACO to Introduce New Economical Slipform Paver at World of Concrete 2011

The GOMACO GP-2400 slipforming a parking lot project in Canada.

Las Vegas, Nevada -- GOMACO Corporation in Ida Grove, Iowa, USA, will unveil its newest paver in their complete line of concrete slipform pavers at World of Concrete 2011, Booth #C5168, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The new GP-2400 is the economical choice for contractors looking for a half-width concrete paver capable of slipforming widths up to 24 feet (7.3 m) wide. The GP-2400 is also designed to be tight-radius capable, user-friendly, maneuverable, easy to transport from job site to job site, and quick to set up on site.

The new GP-2400 paver is the result of a contractor approaching GOMACO with a specific request for a new machine capable of slipforming a tight radius. The new paver is equipped with 10 foot (3 m), GOMACO series two tracks capable of turning tighter than traditional length tracks on a paver. The tracks also allow for a minimum machine transport width of only 10 feet (3 m), making job-to-job mobility easier, safer, quicker, and more cost effective.

It is also equipped with the exclusive GOMACO G+ control system with self-diagnostics for grade and steering. The control system was designed in-house by GOMACO control specialists and features easy-to-operate hardware with steering and travel dials, while buttons are used to control elevation. The G+ was programmed to operate in several languages to accommodate the customer’s choice. A display screen on the control panel illustrates the various aspects of the paver, including a “run” screen, leg positioning, steering, travel information grade information and more.

The paver features the GOMACO 3100 series open-front mold and a telescoping frame that provides extra versatility. The GP-2400 provides contractors with a range of paving widths from 10 feet to 16.5 feet (3 to 5 m), with the standard telescoping frame and paving widths up to 24 feet (7.3 m) with frame inserts. Sixteen vibrator circuits are standard on the GP-2400.

The GP-2400 half-width paver is powered by a 174.5 hp (129.5 kW) 6.6 Turbocharged Caterpillar® diesel engine. Two-speed track motors provide fast job-site mobility. The travel speed on the GP-2400 is a fast 105 feet per minute (32 mpm) to quickly cross the job site or move from one pour to the next. Low speed is variable, up to 35 feet per minute (10.7 mpm), and features the smooth crawl that GOMACO pavers are known for when slipforming concrete.

The new GP-2400 paver, set up to pave 24 feet (7.3 m) wide, is only one of the innovations GOMACO will have on display in their World of Concrete booth in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The GOMACO GT-3600 curb and gutter machine with stringless control will be on display. The GOMACO Commander III is the contractors’ choice around the world to slipform concrete safety barrier or bridge parapet. A three-track Commander III, with a standard safety barrier mold, will be displayed, along with a four-track Commander III with side-mounted mold for lane additions. The C-450 bridge deck finisher with transitional framework will be set to 32 feet (9.75 m) wide, and the GOMACO RTP-500 rubber-tracked placer complete the GOMACO display.

All of these machines and more will also be in GOMACO’s display at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011, March 22-26, in Las Vegas, including the latest innovations in the GOMACO product line, new control systems, new product introductions, and a complete paving train. GOMACO will be located in the Central Hall, Booth #5111 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
