GOMACO 4400 Barrier Paver for Right-Side and Left-Side Slipforming to Make World of Concrete Debut

Ida Grove, Iowa – GOMACO Corporation's new 4400 barrier machine for right-side and left-side slipforming will make its World of Concrete show debut in 2012 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 24-27, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The new machine, built specifically for barrier applications, features ultimate operator comfort and visibility with its U-shaped operator's platform features vibration isolation and a high-capacity cooling package on the engine makes it one of the quietest working platforms in the industry. Ease in operation is also provided by the GOMACO proprietary G+ control system, which is capable of operating in multiple languages.

GOMACO engineers built the new 4400 around the design concept of a left-side and right-side slipforming capable machine with symmetrical steering and minimal set-up changes for switching profiles from side-to-side. Its unique GOMACO U-shaped operator's platform, with vibration isolation, puts the operator comfortably on top of the action. The U-shaped platform and side-to-side sliding control console accommodate right-side and left-side pour and provide a 360 degree view of the entire paving operation.

The 4400 features a Cummins QSB3.3, 99 horsepower (74 kW), Tier 3 power-optimized diesel engine for fuel efficiency and approximately 18 hours of continuous barrier slipform paving. Its high-capacity cooling package, designed for noise reduction, provides one of the quietest working platforms in the industry. The new G+ control system coordinates the speed of the hydraulic fan with engine and hydraulic oil temperature. The tractive system on the 4400 features super low, allowing for the minimum speed and smooth crawl necessary for a vertical wall. The new G+ speed dial turns to adjust in one percent increments and speed display feedback allows for smooth, precision paving speed control.

It has the new GOMACO Barrier Hook-and-Go mold mounting system to quickly mount barrier molds up to 39.4 inches (1000 mm) tall on either side of the machine. An optional sidemount attachment is available for barrier taller than 39.4 inches (1000 mm) or existing barrier molds. GOMACO barrier molds are designed for proper vibration and consolidation of material, with the GOMACO-exclusive trailing stainless steel for superior finishing. The barrier machine features the new 4400 series, 16 inch (406 mm) diameter auger, with the pitch and speed designed specifically for transporting low-slump concrete. Its four-way hydraulic positioning capability allows the auger to be placed perfectly for concrete receiving and delivery to the mold on either side of the machine.

The 4400 is just one of the machines GOMACO will be featuring at World of Concrete 2012. The versatile Commander III will be displayed as a four-track paver with V2 mold showcasing its on-the-go, variable-width paving abilities. The new GP-2400 slipform paver with its compact paving dimensions is gaining popularity on job sites around the world and GOMACO will have a two-track GP-2400 in the booth set up to pave 16 feet (4.9 m) wide. Bridge deck and flat surface finishing will be highlighted with the C-450 cylinder finisher with transitional framework. The rubber-tracked RTP-500 placer with its 35 foot (10.7 m) long placing belt will be in the booth. Rounding out the display will be the high-production GT-3600 curb and gutter machine.
