Job Description: The Welder is responsible for performing skilled welding, fabrication, and repair tasks on heavy machine paving equipment. This role requires interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, operating various welding and fabrication equipment, and adhering to strict quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, precise, and capable of producing strong, high-quality welds.

Job/Education Requirements: Key Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and work orders to determine project layout and material requirements.
• Perform welding using various techniques, including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and flux-cored (FCAW) processes, on a variety of materials such as mild steel, high-tensile steel, and aluminum. operate and maintain a range of fabrication equipment, including plasma cutters, band saws, grinders, and other hand and power tools.
• Fit and assemble components, sub-assemblies, and weldments to precise specifications before welding.
• Ability to read tape measures as well as other measuring devices (combination square, framing square, digital calipers, and protractors).
• Inspect completed welds for structural integrity, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
• Repair and modify existing paving machine parts and equipment, including components such as screeds, hoppers, and conveyors.
• Complete all work while strictly adhering to safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Operate heavy material handling equipment, such as forklifts and overhead cranes, to safely move materials and components.
• Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and other production team members to achieve manufacturing goals.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent. Certificate or diploma in welding from an accredited trade school is highly preferred.
• Proven experience as a Welder in a manufacturing or heavy equipment environment.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
• Extensive knowledge of welding procedures (WPS) and industry standards.
• Experience with various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and flux cored.
• Ability to perform tasks with accuracy and a high level of attention to detail.
• Experience in the fabrication of heavy machinery is an asset.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and heat.
• Capacity to stand for extended periods, as well as bend, crouch, and work in awkward positions.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work overtime or irregular hours as needed to meet production schedules.

Work Environment:
• Plant manufacturing setting.
• Must be able to wear and utilize all required PPE, including a welding helmet, gloves, steel toe boots, and safety glasses.
