| Job Description: |
The machinist is responsible for creating, repairing, or modifying precision metal components and tools used in the assembly of heavy equipment for the paving industry.

| Job/Education Requirements: |
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate conventional machine tools, such as manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and grinders.
• Study blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to plan the sequence of operations for fabricating products.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances and take precise measurements using instruments to lay out material for cutting or shaping.
• Monitor machine operations, adjusting settings like speed and feed manually to ensure parts are within specifications.
• Fit and assemble machined parts into mechanical equipment.
Qualifications:
• Solid experience in setting up and operating manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, and grinders.
• Exceptional manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail. Strong understanding of shop mathematics and the properties of metals.
• Ability to read tape measures as well as other measuring devices (combination square, framing square, digital calipers, and protractors).
Physical Requirements:
• Standing and walking for most of the shift.
• Frequent bending, lifting, and reaching.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
• Manufacturing floor environment
• PPE such as safety glasses and steel-toe boots.
