| Five names were drawn during the awards ceremony Tuesday evening
to take a crack in the new $5,000 Putt contest. Participants in
the preliminary round were Dave Watson of Daily Commercial News, Jim Strawn of Strawn Construction, Scott Smith of SK Construction,
Clare Schroeder of the Iowa Concrete Paving Association and Neil
Reede of Upper Plains Contracting Inc. After a putt-off, Neil
Reede won the honor of attempting the $5,000, 50-foot putt sponsored
by golf entertainer Buddy Shelton. After choosing a hole and lie,
Reede hit an impressive putt within a couple feet of the hole.
He was rewarded with a "gold" putter and $50 for his efforts.
