Polish Up Your Putting For Tuesday's 2-Person Putting Tournament

Putting Tournament
Putting Tournament

The first event at GOMACO Invitational #29 is the 2-Person Putting Tournament. This friendly competition is geared so golfers of all levels can take part and have a fun time doing it.

To participate, first you need to register and click the Putting Tournament check-box when you pick the events you will be participating in.

Then, we need you to check-in with us for the event by 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, at the Ida Grove clubhouse. This will confirm your participation.

After check-in closes, the computer will randomly assign you a partner, and place you on one of the greens on the Ida Grove course for the preliminary tournament. Your partner and green number will be posted at 1:15 p.m. near the clubhouse patio.

Each green is an individual tournament, and is in match play, with participants alternating shots. The second through fourth place teams on each green will receive cash prizes, and the first place team on each green will advance to the nine-hole Putting Championship. The Putting Tournament purse is $18,000 again this year.

The Putting Championship is stroke play on the #9 green beside the Ida Grove clubhouse. The first place team takes home a $3,000 team prize and has their names engraved on the championship trophy. The second place team receives a $2,500 team prize, the third place team is awarded a $2,000 team prize, and fourth place receives a $1,700 team prize.

Last year's champions were Cliff Furcron of Clark Machinery Co. and Len Rettinger of GOMACO.

Root On Your Favorite Contractors In The 3-Person Contractors' Shoot-Out

Contractors' Shoot-Out
Contractors' Shoot-Out

The second big event on Tuesday's schedule is the 3-Person Contractors' Shoot-Out, which will start at 4:30 p.m. following the Putting Tournament Championship. This five-hole competition is exclusively for GOMACO customers. If you are a contractor and would like the opportunity to participate, be sure to click the Contractors' Shoot-Out check-box when you register for the Invitational.

Here's how the Contractors' Shoot-Out works:

At 1 p.m. on Tuesday, right before the Putting Tournament, there will be a drawing on the Ida Grove clubhouse patio to fill six, three-person teams, for a total of 18 contractors. Each team will consist of one A, B, and C player. You need to be present at the drawing to be eligible, and have checked the Contractors' Shoot-Out check-box when you registered.

If your name is drawn, please report to the Ida Grove #1 tee box immediately following the Putting Tournament Championship. Each player hits the first shot, and shots are alternated from that point forward. The highest scoring team on each hole is eliminated, and this continues until a champion is crowned on the final hole!

The first place team wins an $1,800 team cash prize and has their names engraved on the championship trophy. Second place earns a $1,200 team prize, and the third place team receives a team prize of $600.

Even if you aren't golfing in the shoot-out, grab a cart and follow the competitors. Don't be afraid to root on your favorites and have a little fun!

Last year's winners were Steve Michael of Turner-Michael Construction Co., Ron Ideker of Ideker, Inc., and Derek Dilger of Smith Paving & Excavating, Inc.

It All Builds Up To Wednesday's Main Event - The GOMACO Invitational 4-Person, 18-Hole Scramble Tournament!

Scramble Tournament
Scramble Tournament

Day two of the GOMACO Invitational #29 is tournament day! On Wednesday, September 15, we will have the annual 4-Person, 18-hole Scramble Tournament. This event kicks off bright and early, and will fill the whole day!

To participate, you need to register for GOMACO Invitational #29, and click the Scramble Tournament check-box. You will also need to provide your average score for 9 holes of golf. (Please be accurate.)

Check-in will run from 7 to 8 a.m. on the day of the tournament. At that time, you will pay your $65.00 entry fee (100 percent payback in cash and prizes), and receive your GOMACO Invitational "goodies."

At 8 a.m., the computer will randomly pick the 4-person teams, and place you on an area golf course. This information will be posted outside the Ida Grove clubhouse after the Opening Ceremony and $5,000 Putt that morning. Each team will consist of one A, B, C and D player. Everyone hits every shot, which makes it a fun day, no matter what level of golfer you are!

Chartered buses will transport golfers to out of town courses in the morning, and back to Ida Grove at the end of the day. Announcements will be made when it's time to load the buses for your course. If you golf out of town, be sure to take everything you need with you in the morning, as you will not return to Ida Grove until late in the afternoon.

A hot lunch, grilled by GOMACO employees, will be served on-the-go on each course. The menu includes hamburgers, Tiefenthaler skinless bratwursts, chips, snacks, refreshments and more!

Each course is a separate tournament, with Orrefors crystal bowl trophies awarded to the members of the top team. There will be three flights of winners on each course. The winning team from each course's tournament will also have their names engraved on their course champions' trophy, and will advance to the three-hole "Grand" Champion Shoot-Out at 6 p.m. on the Ida Grove course.

Team Challenges: There are $500 team challenges on every hole in the tournament. Examples of challenges include longest putts, longest drives, and hitting closest-to-the-pin.

Hole-In-One Prize: And wait, there's more! One hole on each course will be designated as a special "hole-in-one" hole, with a great prize available if you have luck and skill on your side on September 15!

Celebrating The #29 Winners At The "Grand" Champion Shoot-Out

Grand Champion Shoot-Out

The first place team from each course won't be able to rest on their laurels! While the rest of our guests kick-back, they'll have a little more work ahead of them and have the opportunity to compete for the 2010 "Grand" Champion title in a three-hole shoot-out competition in Ida Grove.

After the individual tournaments conclude, the course champions will be named. In the "Grand" Champion Shoot-Out, the team with the highest score will be eliminated on each hole, until one is left standing.

Along with the individual course champion awards, members of the "Grand" Champion team will each receive a Waterford crystal golfer, a cool "grand" in cash, and have their names engraved on the "Grand" Champions' trophy.

Last year's "Grand" Champions were Mike Swanston of Swanston Equipment Company, Odell Pfeiffer of Clark Machinery Company, Greg Opp of Opp Construction, and Brad Johnson of Road Machinery & Supplies Co.

Will 2010 be your year for fame and glory? Register today for #29 and give it your best shot on September 15!
